Located in the Dogpatch neighborhood in San Francisco, Lundberg Design is a diverse practice with work ranging from homes, restaurants, wineries, corporate headquarters, distilleries, hotels, apartment buildings, bars, lobbies, and bus shelters. Olle Lundberg, AIA, (MArch '79) and founding principal of Lundberg Design, describes the firm's style as "nature-inspired modernism." Striving for elegant, simple, and sustainable solutions, Lundberg Design often uses materials like wood, stone, and steel in their work.

The firm's basic philosophy for environmental sustainability is thinking long term: to design singular places that last. The use of reclaimed materials, artfully integrated to create strong architectural statements that are also highly functional, is a hallmark of the firm. Yet, ultimately, the real mission of the studio is to produce beautiful buildings that will far outlive those who built them-buildings that show us how we can live respectfully within the limits of our Earth.

Olle Lundberg, the 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient, will speak about his four-decade career and Lundberg Design's work during a gallery talk on Friday, October 13, at 12 pm.
