Join us this year for the 30th Annual Martha's Market, which will bring together thousands of people to "shop with a purpose" to promote women's health in our community.
On Saturday, October 28th Martha's Market will be free and open to the public and will include an additional 25 vendors located throughout the Dairy Market as well as participating downtown businesses.
Support for the Martha's Market will make possible:
FREE Breast Cancer Screenings for 200 uninsured or underinsured women living in our community at three Saturday volunteer-manned screening events.
FREE hats, scarves, activity caps, prosthetics, specialty lotions, sensitive shampoos, lip balms, queasy pops, sensitive toothpaste, and mouthwash for women, including 92 specialty wigs in 2022 available through Marianne's Room which is named after a longtime member who courageously fought her own battle with cancer.
High Risk Breast Programs serving women with a higher-than-average likelihood of developing breast cancer to give them the tools they need to help prevent breast cancer, detect it earlier with 3D mammography and make informed decisions about their healthcare. An estimated 1,000 women are diagnosed at Sentara Martha Jefferson annually as high-risk for developing breast cancer.
Cancer Survivorship Programs serve 700 people annually providing clinical visits, exercise programs, nutritional and genetic counseling to help cancer patients thrive through their cancer journey. Our 12-week survivorship program continues to be a patient favorite as one recently shared, "This program saved my life."
Palliative Care Programs served nearly 1,000 patients and their families last year, providing emotional and spiritual support, grief counseling, and guidance to coordinate complex care and help patients manage pain, recovery, and end-of-life decisions.
