The Barn Swallow

The artisanal scene in Charlottesville is a fantastically rustic one--and what better venue for hand-made goods is there than a refurbished 1800's barn? The Barn Swallow opened in its magical location almost 11 years ago when potters Janice Arone and Mary Ann Burk decided to start their own place, and now the store is full of whimsical, earthy goods ranging from painted furniture to charming ceramics. Several sets of gifts in the shop depict the iconic swallow itself, but these decorative goodies cover lots of territory (literally--the Barn Swallow features over 75 local and regional artisans!). Fresh-picked flowers, local eggs and honey grace the shelves alongside delightful pottery, jewelry, and stationery displays. Better yet, the curious nooks and crannies of their barn locale make the shopping experience one-of-a-kind!
